Private pool and sun loungers at Villa de Marcos — a 7-bedroom celebration villa in Costa del Silencio, Tenerife

Tenerife Hen Dos, Milestone Birthdays and Family Reunions: The Villa Guide

Planning a hen do, a 30th, 40th or 50th birthday, or a family reunion in Tenerife? Here's why a private villa beats a hotel for celebration groups — plus two sample itineraries using real south Tenerife activities.

    Share:WhatsApp

    Key takeaways

    • ▸A private villa keeps the whole group under one roof — the single biggest difference between a good celebration trip and a fragmented one.
    • ▸South Tenerife works because everything is close: TFS airport 15 minutes, Los Cristianos boat trips 15 minutes, Las Américas nightlife 25 minutes.
    • ▸Split across 10-14 people, one villa nightly rate usually costs less per head than the equivalent hotel rooms.
    • ▸Costa del Silencio is a quiet residential area — that's the point. Celebrate at the villa by day, take the party 25 minutes down the coast at night.
    • ▸Celebrations are welcome within house rules; outdoor noise winds down at night out of respect for neighbours.

If you are organising a hen do, a milestone birthday or a family reunion in Tenerife, the single decision that shapes the whole trip is where the group sleeps. Book a private villa and the group stays together. Book hotel rooms and you spend the weekend texting each other about which lobby to meet in.

This guide covers why a villa suits celebration groups, two sample itineraries built around real south Tenerife activities, and an honest answer about noise.

Why a Villa Beats a Hotel for a Celebration Group

The advantages compound quickly once your group passes eight people.

Everyone is under one roof. No corridor logistics, no "who's in the other building", no splitting the group by who booked first. Morning coffee on the terrace with all fourteen of you only happens in a villa.

The pool is yours. Prosecco at 11am without competing for sunbeds or observing hotel pool rules. For a hen weekend this is the centrepiece of the whole thing.

Evenings work. A BBQ and multiple terraces mean you can eat together and spread out afterwards, without booking a restaurant for fourteen or negotiating with a hotel neighbour through a partition wall.

The villa pool lit with floating candles at night — the setting for the birthday dinner or the pre-night-out drinks

It splits well. One nightly rate divided across 10-14 people is normally less per head than the same group booking individual hotel rooms — and a full kitchen removes the cost of eating out three times a day. The full villa versus hotel comparison goes through the maths.

For the practical side of sizing a villa to your group, see our guide to large group accommodation in Tenerife.

A Hen Weekend Itinerary in South Tenerife

A three-day structure our guests use, weighted towards the villa rather than the strip.

Friday — arrival and settling in. Land at TFS, 15 minutes to the villa. Pool, terrace, drinks, a relaxed dinner in. Nobody wants a big night after a four-hour flight, and starting at the villa sets the tone for the weekend.

Saturday — the big day. Morning by the pool. Afternoon catamaran trip from Los Cristianos, 15 minutes down the coast — most sailings include swim stops, and pilot whales and dolphins are resident in these waters year-round. Back to the villa to change, dinner and drinks on the terrace, then taxis to Playa de las Américas for the night out, about 25 minutes away.

Sunday — recovery. Slow morning, BBQ lunch, beach at El Médano or La Tejita if anyone has the energy. Fly home relaxed instead of wrecked.

    A Milestone Birthday Itinerary — 30th, 40th or 50th

Milestone birthday groups tend to be mixed: couples, a few children, a wider age range. The shape of the trip changes accordingly.

    DayPlan
Day 1Arrive, settle in, BBQ at the villa
Day 2Pool day, then the birthday dinner — ask us about arranging a private chef or catering at the villa
Day 3Whale-watching boat trip from Los Cristianos, or Siam Park for groups with kids
Day 4Beach day at El Médano or one of the quieter beaches near Costa del Silencio
Day 5Golf, hiking or a Teide day trip — several south Tenerife courses are within 20 minutes

The advantage of a 40th or 50th at a villa over a restaurant back home is simple: it lasts five days instead of five hours, and the birthday dinner happens at your own table with nobody watching the clock.

    Things we can help arrange

Private chefs, catering, grocery delivery before arrival and airport transfers can all be organised for celebration groups. Ask us when you enquire and we will point you to the right people locally — we don't run these services ourselves, but we know who does.

    Being Honest About Noise

Costa del Silencio translates as "coast of silence", and it earns the name. It is a quiet residential neighbourhood, not a resort strip. If your group's idea of a hen do is a bar every hundred metres outside the front door, this is not the right base — our Costa del Silencio versus Playa de las Américas comparison sets out the trade-off plainly.

For most celebration groups, the quiet is the feature. You get a pool day nobody interrupts, a BBQ evening at your own pace, plenty to fill the daylight hours nearby, and a 25-minute taxi to the loud part of the island whenever you want it. What we ask in return is straightforward: enjoy the villa fully during the day, and keep outdoor noise and music down at night so the neighbours stay happy. Groups who understand that get everything they came for.

Villa de Marcos for Celebration Groups

Seven named suites — Amalfi, Capri, Santorini, Positano, Portofino, Ischia and Ravello — eight bathrooms, 300 m² and space for up to 14 guests. Private pool, BBQ, multiple terraces with ocean views, air conditioning throughout, WiFi and free on-street parking nearby. Fifteen minutes from Tenerife South Airport.

Enough bathrooms that fourteen people can get ready at once, which on the morning of a big night out matters more than anything else on the list.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Tenerife good for a hen do?+

Yes — particularly for groups who want sun, a pool and good food rather than a bar crawl. South Tenerife gives you year-round warm weather, catamaran and whale-watching trips from Los Cristianos, beach days at El Médano, and Playa de las Américas nightlife 25 minutes away when you want it.

Can you rent a villa for a hen party in Tenerife?+

Yes. A private villa is the most practical option for a hen group of 8-14, because everyone stays under one roof with a private pool and terraces instead of being split across hotel rooms. Villa de Marcos has 7 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms and sleeps up to 14.

Where do hen groups go out in Tenerife?+

Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje have the concentrated bar and club scene, roughly 25 minutes by taxi from Costa del Silencio. Los Cristianos is closer and calmer — better for a group dinner by the harbour than a late night out.

Is a villa cheaper than a hotel for a group?+

For groups of 10 or more, usually yes. One nightly villa rate divided across the group typically works out lower per person than booking five to seven hotel rooms, and a full kitchen means you are not paying restaurant prices for every meal.

    Does the villa allow celebrations?+

Yes — hen dos, birthdays and family reunions are exactly what the villa is set up for, within the house rules. Costa del Silencio is a quiet residential neighbourhood, so outdoor music and pool noise need to wind down at night out of respect for the neighbours. Daytime by the pool is yours.
